My Dream

Rob was out of town last night. I didn't sleep so well. Funny. About 2 years ago, when he was travelling all the time, I couldn't sleep well when he was home. I wasn't used to having him in the bed. He made me so hot and cramped. I missed him when he would leave, but I would sleep better. Now it is changed. I am used to being hot and cramped. I am used to having him to prop my back up against. I am used to the sound of his breath being the lullaby that keeps me in that deep sleep. Last night I woke up several times and thought it was much too quiet. Other than the loud crickets that were singing their lonely tunes outside the window, there was far too much silence. It unnerved me. I'm glad he comes home tonight.

Our church will likely be moving from the suburbs to the smack dab middle of the city. It isn't downtown, but it is right in the middle of the city limits. This is so exciting to me since I think that we will have an opportunity to do things and work with people that we never have had the chance to rub shoulders with before. It is quite a bold move since most churches want to move out of the city where things are safer, and they can build their grand and flashy buildings. I think I have more in common with the brokenness of the inner city (if you can say that about Greensboro, NC). I am looking forward to find ways to wrap my arms around the people that we will find there. I don't know that I have ever been this excited about church. It feels like maybe we are finally going to be doing the things that I feel a church should.

My dream is to have a place for a clothes closet. A place that people can donate things like they do at Goodwill, but people can come and take whatever they need for free. Taking care of people without asking for any compensation. Something about that seems so right. I guess I feel like that is what God has done for me.

I guess that is all for today.
