Scary
Monday, I took David to the doctor for his regular checkup. As she was checking him out, the doctor said that his eyes looked uneven and I needed to take him right away to see a pediatric othamologist. I went right over thinking that maybe he had a lazy eye or something.
It was something, but not a lazy eye.
He has what is likely a malignant tumor(s) behind his retina called retinoblastoma. We have to take him to specialists at Duke University in Raleigh on Friday. We have been told that he will have to undergo a CT scan or MRI and exploratory surgery in the very near future. He could very likely lose his eye.
He has beautiful eyes. Big and blue.
I never thought that I would ever have blue eyed children, but now I have 3 of them. Beautiful beautiful eyes.
The doc. said that David's sight in the effected eye is likely very blurry. It makes me sad to think that he can't really see us well.
Rob stayed home yesterday to process all this new information. I'm glad he did.
At times I think I am handling all of this just fine. Other times I am not. I have been really tired yesterday and today which tells me that it is effecting me much more than I realize. It's like I am in a daze.
Right now, all we can do is keep life as normal as possible until we know what is really going on. Hopefully we will get some answers soon. It's all very scary.
